ABSTRACT

Objective@#To explore the short-term effects of communicated activities regarding the China Healthy Lifestyle for All workshop held during September 2018.@*Method@#"National action for three reductions and three health activities" and related content ( "salt reduction," "oil reduction," "sugar reduction," "oral health," "healthy bones," and "healthy weight" ) were used as keywords. Starting September 1, thematic publicity topics were launched and implemented throughout the month. The National Action Office issued promotional materials one day in advance through the WeChat Work Group known as the health promotion network in the mainland, which had been developed by members from different provinces, cities, and counties, to disseminate the materials for use both offline and online. Using search engines such as Baidu search and Sogou search, a third-party professional evaluation agency intelligently captured relevant information and texts from various organizations (including provinces, cities, and countries). The information was gathered and sorted according to different channels and forms; thereby, a database was formed for analysis. The content analysis method was used to quantitatively analyze the change trend of the release volume of related reports, and classified statistics were conducted according to different communication channels and forms. Baidu index, WeChat interactive volume, WeChat index, and Weibo hit times were used for evaluation. Researchers analyzed the difference of release volumes in different provinces (municipalities directly under the central government and autonomous regions), as well as in eastern and central regions.@*Results@#The daily communication trend increased significantly after September, with 42 176 reports on related topics, peaking on September 3 (2 703 reports in a single day); effects of the topic establishment and publicity were shown during the entire month. The Badu index showed the same tendency. The keywords "three reductions," "three health," "all-people action," "oil reduction," "sugar reduction," "salt reduction," "oral health," "healthy bones," and "healthy weight" had become high-frequency words. From the perspective of communication channels, there were 17 576, 11 453, and 8 034 reports by WeChat, the news, and Weibo, respectively, accounting for 41.76%, 27.16%, and 19.05% of the total; these report rates were obviously higher than those of other communication channels. WeChat’s interactions reached 4 064 699, and the WeChat index rose to a peak of 858 275 on September 1, which was 194.44 times higher than on August 10 (before the promotional month); additionally, the number of micro-blogging hits reached 130 907 879. Regarding the form of presentation, in descending order, the most frequent type was graphics, followed by star propaganda, radio drama, and health super material. In addition, the gap between the top five provinces ranked by each channel was large. The number of daily releases varied significantly among provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions), with Beijing taking the top spot with 81 articles, while the western provinces of Xinjiang, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Qinghai Province, and Tibet had relatively low daily releases. Even the gap of rank among the top five in WeChat, news, and individual micro-blogs were larger: Beijing, Shandong Province, and Zhejiang Province were the country’s top three regions in WeChat publishing volume. The communication effect in the eastern, central, and western regions was considerably different, with the eastern region clearly responding better than the other two regions, and the western region had insufficient propaganda capacity as a whole.@*Conclusion@#The communication effect of the China Healthy Lifestyle for All month activities in 2018 was quite effective, but the gap in communication effect by provinces was large.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To explore the effect of ambient fine particulate matters (PM2.5) exposure on nasal oxidative stress level in patients with allergic rhinitis (AR).@*Methods@#A panel of sixty AR patients was recruited as subjects. Four repeated measurements were carried out from June 2017 to January 2018. Nasal irrigation solution was collected and examined for malondialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD). Monitoring data of atmospheric pollutants and meteorological factors during measurement periods were also collected. Time activity pattern combined with micro-environment monitoring method was used to evaluate PM2.5 exposure. Mixed effect model was applied to analyze the relationship between PM2.5 exposure concentration and oxidative stress level.@*Results@#49 subjects accomplished the four repeated measurements, and the mean±SD of their age was (36.7±8.4) years old. The median of MDA and SOD in four measurement periods was 3.70, 3.70, 5.58, 6.24 nmol/ml, and 105.50, 102.50, 95.00, 96.50 U/ml. The concentration of PM2.5 exposure in four measurement periods was (40.0±2.7), (41.5±2.5), (52.3±5.9) and (74.7±4.9) μg/m3, respectively. Results of single pollutant mixed effect model analysis showed that 0-, 1-, 2-, 3-day lag concentrations of PM2.5 was significantly positively associated with MDA, about β (95%CI) estimated as 0.24 (0.17, 0.30), 0.34 (0.27, 0.41), 0.32 (0.20, 0.44) and 0.33 (0.23, 0.43), respectively. 0-, 1-, 2-day concentrations of PM2.5 was significantly negatively associated with SOD, about β (95%CI) estimated as -0.99 (-1.66, -0.31), -1.35 (-2.08, -0.62) and -0.94 (-1.80, -0.07), respectively. Multivariate analysis found that lag 1-day concentration of PM2.5 was still significantly associated with MDA and SOD after controlling for temperature, age and other influencing factors. For a 10 μg/m3 increase of PM2.5 concentration, MDA increased 0.26 (95%CI: 0.18, 0.33) nmol/ml, and SOD decreased 0.87 (95%CI: 0.21, 1.53) U/ml.@*Conclusion@#Our results suggested that PM2.5 exposure can aggravate the nasal oxidative stress response of AR patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To compare diary-reported trips and Global Positioning System (GPS) recording trips and identify the reasons for the discrepancies between two methods.@*Methods@#The survey was conducted in Jiangning district in Nanjing city during July to September and November to December, 2015. Both the diary records and GPS method were used to investigate the travel behavior of 33 retired adults for 5 consecutive days. The GPS traces were display in Google Earth and then split into trips to compare with the diary records according to time and location. χ2 test was used to analyze the influence of trip characteristics on misreporting rates of each method.@*Results@#A total of 1 087 trips in the survey can be compared between the diary (n=909) and the GPS method (n=912). 7.3% (79/1 087) of the trips were only recorded by GPS method, and 11.8% (128/1 087) were only reported in the diary. Of the remaining 880 trips recorded by the both methods, 86.7% (763/880) matched each other, while 13.3% (117/880) did not. For the matched trips, the difference between the trip durations recorded by diary and GPS method was 2.0 (quartile was 6.0) minutes and the diary method overestimated about 25.0% trip durations when compared with the GPS method. The accuracy rates were 84.8%(903/1 065) and 86.9%(925/1 065) for diary and GPS method, respectively. Both methods were more likely to misreport the trip under 5 minutes. The misreporting rates of diary method for trips under 5 minutes were 6.8 times higher than trips over 30 minutes (21.7% vs 3.2%). The reporting accuracy was also significantly different among trips by different travel mode (P<0.05) for both methods, diary method had the lowest accuracy in reporting vehicles recorders (69.3%, 133/192), while GPS method was more accuracy in both biking (91.9%, 136/148) and vehicles recorders(89.6%, 172/192). The main reasons for misreporting by diary method were forgetting or unwilling to record and failing to record trips according to travel mode, while forgetting to carry GPS device, bad GPS signal and failing to locate the position were the main reasons for misreporting by GPS method.@*Conclusion@#The majority of the trips reported in diary and GPS method are well consistent with each other. Both of the methods should be used simultaneously in the survey of time-activity pattern to improve the data quality.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical features and therapeutic strategies of one patient with meningioangiomatosis ( MA ) complicated with intracranial aneurysm formation. Methods The clinical data of one patient with aneurysm-formed MA admitted to the Department of Neurosurgery, the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University was analyzed retrospectively. The patient received emergency craniotomy and middle cerebral artery aneurysm clipping and evacuation of intracranial hematoma. The meningeal tissue around the aneurysm was taken for pathological examination. Results Microscopy revealed meningeal thickening in the patient with MA accompanied with intracranial aneurysm. Spindle cells around the meninges and perivascular tissue of cortical hyperplasia formed an annular and fence-like structure. The results of immunohistochemistry showed the hyperplastic vessels and perivascular fibroblast like spindle cells diffuse vimentin-positive;the hyperplastic vascular endothelial cells CD99,CD34 were positive;and the residual glial cells in the lesions showed glial fibrillary acidic protein positive. Conclusion MA complicated with intracranial aneurysm is rare. The vascular condition is poor. The shape of aneurysm is irregular, and the risk of bleeding is high. Excise the involved meningeal tissue and clip the aneurysm with microsurgical operation is the resonable treatment.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical features and treatment strategy of brain arteriovenous malforma-tions(AVM) associated with arterial aneurysms. Methods The clinical manifestation, imaging data, treatment and out-come of the patients with AVM were retrospectively analyzed in 38(10.4%) of these 364 patients. Results Hemorrhage was the most common clinical manifestation (60.5%). The hemorrhage risk was higher in AVM associated with arterial an-eurysms than in single AVM(χ2=5.956,P<0.05). The most common type of associated aneurysms was feeding artery an-eurysm (69.4%). Hemorrhage more frequently occurred within the aneurysm.(χ2=8.869,P<0.05). The bleeding lesions and 43 associated aneurysms of the 37 patients were treated effectively by endovascular treatment and/or craniotomy. Thirty-four patients had excellent or good outcomes, six patients had complications, 3 patients had neurological deficits. Postoperative digital subtraction angiography (DSA) examination showed the complete disappearance of arteriovenous malformation and aneurysm in sixteen cases. Conclusions The AVM associated with aneurysms is common in patients with AVM. AVM associated with aneurysms has a higher risk of hemorrhage than single AVM. The aneurysm within AVM has a higher rate of hemorrhage. The treatment priority should be given to the bleeding lesions and aneurysms.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The gold nanoparticles have a killing effect on tumor cells.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the influence of gold nanochain on Hep-2 cells proliferation of human laryngeal carcinoma.METHODS: The gold nanochain was prepared by a glucose synthesis method and added into the culture cells with different concentrations (10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 95%) to test the influence on proliferation of in vitro cultured Hep-2 cells. The endocytosis and exocytosis of transmembrane when gold nanochain attached to Hep-2 cells were observed by electron microscopy.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The gold chain at high concentrations (75%, 95%) exhibited inhibitory effects on the proliferation of Hep-2 cells, but the influence was not increased with increasing concentration, belonging to a range of non-toxic. Gold nanchain can enter into Hep-2 cells after 8 hours of co-culture and leave cells after 48 hours, indicating gold nanoparticles chain can enter and leave Hep-2 freely.
